Community Art Share–A Painting and Rag Rugs

Every Tuesday on The Secret City Daily, I share the work of one of our community members. Our community is filled with makers, craftspeople and artists of all kinds. Last week I shared a painting by Jonas Manashowitz. Not a great photo–but the piece is great, dynamic, sharp. 12cent dance is the title.

And today I’ll be sharing the work of Sandye Fern Renz, who’s long considered herself The Recycling Queen but the pandemic has set her powers into overdrive–making new textiles out of found textiles, vintage textiles, things given to her by friends and things pulled out of a dump in the Adirondacks. The results are bright, joyful rugs, trivets and coasters and decorative objects. She’s going to be part of a fiber arts show coming up in Brooiklyn. Check it out if you’re in the area. And if you have any questions for Sandye or any fabrics to donate to her, email her at [email protected]
