Our featured visual artist this Sunday for DIRT is Dove Drury Hornbuckle, a wonderful multidisciplined creator of ceramics, textiles, sculptor, drawings and paintings. Dove is a great pal of The Secret City and will be taking over the altar and the walls and sharing a wide array of work inspired by the theme. I can’t wait to witness the magic.
Here’s his bio:
1989 Dove Drury Hornbuckle is a multidisciplinary artist residing in New York City. A graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the fall of 2013 with a BFA, his work is focused through ceramics, jewelry design and painting. Hornbuckle utilizes the body as a form to display sensual qualities of color, self‐love and joy. These messages and abstractions are vehicles to encourage awareness, compassion and intuitive introspection. Beginning his jewelry‐crafting career in NYC with found objects, gifts from friends and magic trash from the streets, Hornbuckle continued his relationship with adornment in the ceramic studios of SAIC where he refined his skills for jewelry design and wearable art. He currently crafts jewelry, sculptural and functional forms at his ceramic studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. His jewelry can be found in boutiques and shops in New York City and Sydney, Australia. Hornbuckle has been featured in numerous publications including American Vogue and Vogue Living, Spanish Architectural Digest, Gather Journal and Amica Magazine.
