CASSIE MCDUFFIE/Food Offering

This Sunday is our 2nd Annual Winter Solstice celebration at Judson Church. The theme is SPACE. And, we have a delicious treat for the occasion. Our dear pal, master chef and fantastic baker is contributing her glitter truffles! We had these truffles at last year’s event so—looks like we have a tradition on our hands! Not only are these sparkly orbs beautiful and celestial but, they are DELICIOUS! Join us this Sunday, December 18th at 6:30pm at Judson Memorial Church for SPACE and get your glitter truffle on! Thanks to Cassie for this incredible treat.

Here’s Cassie’s bio:

Cassandra Meaux (pronounced Mo) McDuffie. Cajun-born, brown-eyed girl observes and experiences cooking and food as a celebration of life in all of its funky and glorious forms……even, and especially, in the low rice/high sugar cane fields of Southern Louisiana. She leaves home early (and often) to explore. She discovers cooking and food as an art form and yet it’s still a funky, glorious celebration! She mustn’t and can’t resist. She cooks. She celebrates. She can’t help it.

WOW WOW WOW!! We have such a treat in store for STARDUST, this Sunday’s Solstice event in NYC — Sunday, December 20th at 6pm at Judson Memorial Church — for the food offering, I had one thing in mind when we set the theme. A few years ago a dear old friend of mine sent Bobby and me a beautiful package of truffles in the mail. It was holiday time and, when we opened the box, we both gasped. They were glittery! What? GLITTER TRUFFLES!! Heavenly. And, the taste surpassed their beauty. I thought, you know what would be the perfect thing for STARDUST, those incredible truffles that Cassie sent us a few years ago. Here’s the thing: Cassie lives in New Mexico…what the hell, I emailed her. She was delighted to be asked and, guess what? She made them and shipped them to us. And, we’re going to serve her glitter truffles as the food offering. And I AM SO HAPPY AND EXCITED! People really are magic. And, Cassie Meaux McDuffie is a perfect example. SO much love.

It will be our first time having tea together.

Our food offering this Sunday, for ANCESTORS, will be provided by Alex “YummyBakes” Avans, a beloved member of our community. Alex has a baking business – YUMMYBAKES – specializing in cupcakes, cake pops, wedding cakes and more. (She’s made a bunch of chocolate cakes for me over the years – mmm) – for Sunday, she’s bringing in a special treat from her homeland of Argentina. I’m not exactly sure what it is – but she promises something creamy and sweet, to please her ANCESTORS.

Jonathan Jackson Poe is a dear old pal of mine from Los Angeles. He now lives in Portland, Oregon where he has started his own deluxe line of caramel corn: Pinkletons. Here’s how describes it on the website:
With a decidedly Victorian & vintage feel, Pinkleton’s is obsessed with getting caramel-corn just right. We use no artificial ingredients. Pinkleton’s is a small-batch caramel corn confectionary located in Portland Oregon. We are uncompromisingly committed to using the best ingredients possible.

Those ingredients include organic butter, hand harvested sea salt and non GMO corn. Thrilled to present this to folks this Sunday in NYC at our service on POP. Delicious!

Tierra Sana Holistics | Food Offering

foodoffering_hpslider

Our food offering this month for THE FOOL comes from Tari Ayala, who’s not a fool at all, but rather a sustainable health coach, urban farmer and food justice activist living and working in New York City. As founder of Tierra Sana Holistics, she improves her clients’ health by teaching them about eating and gardening, with a special focus on home and body detox. Tari also works as a Crew Leader on The Youth Farm, a sustainable organic education farm in central Brooklyn. For this month’s service, Tari’s going to share something from the farm with us – and maybe what’s foolish about this is Tari’s dream to work on a farm in the middle of NYC, and the idea of doing something bold with one’s life.
