For this Sunday’s winter solstice event–Sunday, December 20th at 6pm at Judson Memorial Church–(our first evening service ever!) — the theme is STARDUST and, just knew we had to have some Bowie in the mix. So, who better than our beloved Raquel Cion, who’s been such a wonderful part of our community for years now. Raquel is a singer/writer/performer/director who has made original work of all kinds in downtown New York–she’s also been part of The Secret City Singers for years. I’m thrilled that we’re get to present her in this capacity, which reflects her latest project and her deepest love: Me and Mr. Jones, My Intimate Relationship with David Bowie.
Here’s her bio:
Hailed by The New York Times as “half witch and half cabaret performer” Raquel Cion’s recent projects include her 2015 Broadway World “Best Alt Cabaret Show” nominated Me & Mr. Jones: My Intimate Relationship with David Bowie (Slipper Room, Judson Arts Wednesdays Open Swim, The Treehouse Theater); Alas, The Nymphs (BAM Next Wave); Gilding the Lonely (Joe’s Pub); Cou-Cou Bijoux Pour Vous (Galapagos Art Space, Dixon Place); Rationality (A Virtual Performance) and Memoir (LMCC Swing Space); directorial credits include SONS (Ars Nova’s Showgasm); Terry: Recovering Pet Detective (Ars Nova’s ANT Fest and Showgasm); Darkling (IRT Theater, CATCH SERIES); HIP (IRT Theater); On a Lonely Road…Travelin’ with Joni (The Duplex).
